Pelton Fell's Joan Brown represented Durham County in the Ladies singles and Senior singles competitions at the Bowls England National finals held at Leamington Spa.
She fought her way through to the last 16 of the singles and to the quarter finals of the senior singles.
In each case she lost to the eventual winner of the competition.
Well done.

Pelton Fell won the NWD league cup on Sunday 5th September.
Well done to everyone who took part.
A great result and nice end to a good season.

Pelton Fell ladies teams have competed in 3 leagues this season.
Sadly they came second in all of them.
A good effort all round and roll on next year.

Durham and District finals day on Saturday 21st August saw some more success for Pelton Fell, on a slightly damp day.
Jim Hutchinson and Malcolm Lusk won the pairs and Liam Hall, Malcolm Lusk and Keith Minnis won the triples.
Well done to all.

More success for Pelton Fell.
We won the Wednesday NWD league by 1 point from View Lane, and Dipton were 1 point behind them.
Very well done to all of the players who have taken part and a great result for the club.

We are through to the NWD league cup final on Sunday September 5th.
Sadly we lost our D&D millennium cup semi-final.
However we will have teams playing on finals day in the Triples, Pairs and Mixed pairs competitions.
Good luck to all involved.

On the last day of the Durham & District Saturday league we needed 3 points against Spennymoor to be sure of winning the league.
We actually got 8.
Very well done to everyone who has helped in any of the games.
We also played the first of 2 games in the Friday South Tyne KO cup last night.
On a tricky green at Jarrow we ran out winners by 90 - 43.
We face Dunston next Friday in the final, probably at Lyndhurst.
Good luck to the team.
I hope to be able to report progress in the ladies leagues shortly when we get final confirmation of positions.
Durham & District finals day next Saturday, so hopefully more chances for success.

 Success for Pelton Fell
Pelton Fell's Joan Brown won the ladies county singles competition today.
She won her semi final this morning and held on to win the final after lunch.
Both games were hard fought affairs which could have gone either way.
Joan will now represent Durham county in the national finals at Leamington Spa in August.
Well done and good luck.

The Storey competition for club members has been run over the Sunday and Monday of the bank holiday weekend.
The weather has been glorious sunshine, and there has been some good bowling.
Thank you to everyone who took part.
Congratulations to the winners, John, Arlene and Jason.
Commiserations to the runners up, Trish, Malcolm, and Colin.
A big Thank You to Jim for organising the event.

We had a visitor to Pelton Fell recently.
This lady is the daughter of one of our lady members.
She plays bowls at National level.
So don't give me reasons why you cannot play bowls.

The park is run by volunteers. If anyone is interested and available to help opening the park gates during the summer months, then please get in touch

Tennis Court Information

The park is run by trustees (not the council).

The bowling club uses the park facilities with the agreement of the trustees.  Part of that arrangement is that we take money for the use of the courts.

The trustees should arrange for the park gates to be opened each morning.  However you might find that only the car park gate is opened.

The bowling club is usually open each afternoon and evening on weekdays and up to about 5pm on weekends.  The bowlers usually lock the park when they finish.

All of this is voluntary and depends on people being willing to be there.  As long as access to the park is available the tennis courts are available to use.  We do not operate any booking system.

If there is someone at the bowls club we will request payment for the courts.  If there is no one at the bowls club, just carry on.  Charges are £5 per hour per court for adults and £3 for under 18’s.
